Tony Albert

This merchandise has been created in close collaboration with Tony Albert as an extension of his exhibition Not a Souvenir and his artistic practice. Rather than promoting historical stereotypes, it uses humour and contemporary design to challenge them. Sales support the artist through royalties paid as renumeration for the use of his works and help the MCA continue its work as a not-for-profit museum.

Tony Albert (Girramay, Yidinji and Kuku-Yalanji peoples) is one of Australia's leading contemporary artists. His practice considers the way Aboriginal peoples and cultures have been commodified and misrepresented, both historically and today, while celebrating survival and cultural pride.
