These Bilum are joyful works of art. The inspiring female artisans from Papua New Guinea weave each bag by hand using the ancient art form of bilum weaving.
Each bilum takes around six weeks to make and communicates life stories through pattern and colour. Power pole pattern draws inspiration from the strong, upright structure of a power pole, reflection its simplicity and resilience in the weaving pattern.
This Bilum is handwoven from acrylic and wool yarn as well as up-cycled knitwear using traditional weaving techniques.
