
The Neighbour at the Gate | Author: National Art School
Led by Wardandi (Nyoongar) and Badimaya (Yamatji) woman and senior curator Clothilde Bullen OAM, with senior curator Micheal Do and Whadjuk Balladong and Willman Noongar artist and curator Zali Morgan, this world premiere exhibition brings together new works by leading Australian artists Jacky Cheng, Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson, Dennis Golding (Kamilaroi/?Gamilaraay), Jenna Mayilema Lee (gulumerridjin (Larrakia), Wardaman, KarraJarri), James Nguyen, and James Tylor (Kaurna, Thura-Yura language region). The exhibition unravels the impacts of colonisation, race and ethnicity between and within First Nations and Asian Australian peoples, whilst highlighting the contemporary and historical parallels and connections between these communities. Published by the National Art School this 145-page catalogue celebrates the exhibition The Neighbour at the Gate, made possible with the generous support of the NSW Government through the Blockbuster Funding initiative. The publication includes forewords by Dr Kristen Sharp, National Art School Director and CEO, and The Hon John Graham MC, NSW Government. The publication also features essays and artist texts by Clothilde Bullen, OAM, Micheal Do, Zali Morgan and contributions by Jazz Money and Jason Phu.
