Scarf Silk | Vie de France | Tara Whalley

Tara Whalley's silk scarves are a lively extension of her hand-painted textile art, featuring original gouache designs inspired by personal stories, nature, and heirlooms. Each scarf is a wearable artwork, crated from the softest silk. The ‘Vie de France’ design captures Tara’s favourite memories from her artist residency in the Champagne region, with playful details like statues, cats, cheese, and champagne.

Tara launched her self-titled fashion brand in 2015 after a formative year in Guatemala working with war-affected Mayan weavers, an experience that shaped her approach to storytelling through print. Her Melbourne-made collections use natural fibres, digital printing to reduce waste, and offcut reuse to minimise impact. Her work has appeared at Paris and New York Fashion Weeks and has been featured in Vogue, The Age, The Design Files, and InStyle. She was awarded the Frankie Magazine Fashion Designer Award in 2019.
