Handbag | Bilum | Mini Crossbody | Skin Pik
These Bilum are joyful works of art. The inspiring female artisans from Papua New Guinea weave each bag by hand using the ancient art form of bilum weaving.
Each bilum takes around six weeks to make and communicates life stories through pattern and colour. The Skin Pik design is local to Goroka and symbolizes when when women came together to eat, those with higher status were treated to finer parts of the pig, the women of lower status were left to wait. The design speaks of independence and empowerment.
This Bilum Pouch is handwoven from wool and acrylic yarn using traditional weaving techniques
