Greeting card | Assorted artworks by David Malangi Daymirringu
Master bark painter David Malangi (1927-1999) was a senior elder of the Manharrngu clan of central Arnhem Land. His bold and distinctive style of painting represents ancestral stories of his custodial Country: Mulanga, Dhamala, Dhabila and Yathalamrra; including that of the great ancestral hunter, Gurrmirringu, which became his signature subject.
Donated to the MCA in 1993 by Arnott's Biscuits Limited, the Arnott's Biscuits Collection of Aboriginal bark paintings includes over 260 significant Aboriginal bark paintings from the late 1960's to the early 1980's, and highlights the dynamic stories and traditions closely connected to the land and sea of northern Australia.
