Cardigan | WAH-WAH x Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are advised that the following, contains the name and image of a deceased person.
This cardigan was designed in direct collaboration with Kunmanara (Tiger) Yaltangki in 2022 And WAH-WAH. Tiger sadly passed away in September of 2024. WAH-WAH has the permission of Iwantja Arts and The estate of Kunmanara Yaltangki to continue producing and featuring the artist's work and name.
Get excited, WAH-WAH is now making cardigans! If the lion is the king of the jungle, then Yaltangki was the king of the Indulkana desert. As a largely non-verbal artist, Yaltangki used painting as a vital form of self-expression. The bold and colourful brushstrokes of his paintings capture the concept of Mamu (spirit beings) and are always infused with a more contemporary spirit - that of rock n roll!
This collaboration with WAH-WAH pays a cheeky tribute to Yaltangki's favourite band - the heavy hitting, hard rocking AC/DC! It’s a long way to the top, but Mr Yaltangki well and truly earned his place in the best galleries around Australia and abroad!
This cardigan is an ally-friendly purchase, as approved by Yaltangki and Iwantja Arts.
