Bread bag | Tampe | Navy on Organic Cotton | Tangentyere Artists

Keep bread fresh in this boldly designed bread bag. Tampe is the Central/Eastern Arrente way of spelling ?Damper? and pronounced the same way. Tampe is a homemade bread cooked over the fire, often served fresh and warm with butter and strawberry jam.

The bread bag design is by Tim McNamara and the text is by Phyllis Stevens of Ewyenper Atwatye (Hidden Valley). Tim says of his design ?Tampe was made by native Aboriginal stockmans, we do tampe sometimes. Probably tomorrow when we go out bush.?

Town Camp Designs is a collection of products created by Ewyenper Atwatye, Tangentyere Artists and Yarrenyty Arltere Artists. They are a 100% Aboriginal owned and run art centre with all sales directly supporting the artists, and all profit going towards artists fees and future projects. Through their art, Town Camp Artists communicate stories about their families, identity and lives. Ewyenper Atwatye is a satellite textile project of Tangentyere Artists.
