Cushion Cover | Wool 40cm | Liddy Napanangka Walker | Bright Yellow Red & Pink

Artwork title: Wakirlpirri (dogwood)

The main motif of this painting depicts the Wakirlpirri (dogwood) tree. Wakirlpirri is a very useful tree that grows on the sides of creek beds and near Mulga trees. The seeds can be eaten raw or cooked on the fire. The wood can be used to make 'karli' (boomerangs).

These beautiful, unique textiles are a cross-cultural collaboration combining Aboriginal designs and traditional Kashmiri rug-making techniques. Chain stitched, using hand dyed wool, each is a completely handmade piece.
