Playing Cards - Roo Tail Soup x Franck Gohier
Franck Gohier is a French-born and Australia-based contemporary artist working print, painting and sculpture. His playful prints, which are held in the Museum of Contemporary Art Australian Collection, mimic Campbell’s soup can labels and take off from Andy Warhol’s celebrated Campbell’s Soup Cans paintings (1962), and later silkscreen prints of the soups. Instead of the standard American (now global) flavours that Warhol reproduced, Gohier has substituted Australian animals common in the Northern Territory, presented in a variety of soup styles.
This fun playing card set produced as a collaboration between the artist and MCA Store features the artwork Roo Tail Soup, 2003.
