T-shirt | Mother Language Day | MCA
To celebrate International Mother Language Day, the MCA Store has created a limited-edition t-shirt featuring greetings from diverse language groups across Australia.
The words are drawn from the mother languages of MCA staff and exhibiting artists, and each translates to Hi, Hello or Welcome. Language is at the heart of culture. It carries story, knowledge, identity and connection to Country. Keeping language strong helps keep culture strong, and we all have a role to play in recognising, respecting and supporting First Nations languages for future generations.
Wearing this t-shirt is a simple but powerful way to acknowledge and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language and culture. It makes a statement about what you value and who you stand with. Proudly one of our best sellers, it has become a favourite with visitors and our wider MCA community.
Make sure you’re wearing your Mother Language Day tee on 21 February and every day after that (as long as it’s clean of course).
Proceeds from every sale support MCA programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, directly contributing to initiatives that strengthen language, art and culture for generations to come.
