In this stunning series of porcelain objects, sculpture, platters and installation pieces Australian artist Gus Clutterbuck encapsulates his truly cross cultural approach and viewpoint. Working from a base in Jingdezhin, China he creates these pieces drawing on the tutelage of master craftsmen in porcelain and traditional qing-hua decoration.

"I have aimed to develop my own visual language which combines traditional qing-hua (blue and white) painting technique and references to Chinese symbolism, with my own family’s personal experience of life, and the Australian landscape”.      Gus Clutterbuck

Gus Clutterbuck embraces risk and experimentation to keep his work fresh and interesting, and constantly evolving. His work is inspired by direct immersion in place, experience, personal history and the potential of broken and discarded objects to tell stories about our culture. While exhibiting nationally and internationally and winning multiple industry awards, he also has experience working in community arts and education, including with remote aboriginal communities in South Australia's APY lands and the East Kimberley region in WA.
