Precious Metals is a square-shaped artist monograph, collaboratively compiled by both Sophie Kitson and Jack Mannix. This comprehensive 96pp full-colour soft-cover photography book snuggly houses a curated selection of around 100 striking portraits and still life images captured by Mannix since 2005. It was developed originally for an exhibition of the same name at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne, although its real purpose is to survey the widest selection of Mannix's photography to date. The Preface is written by curator Sophie Kitson; with a critical writing piece by none other than the legendary Jack Sargeant. A thoughtful, more involved discussion of Mannix's work is written by Angela Garrick; and a conversational introduction to Precious Metals is written by the artist himself, Jack Mannix.
