Art Monthly is Australasia's flagship visual arts publication, providing a critical platform for its artists. Published since 1987, it is Australasia's only visual arts magazine placing visual arts in a contemporary, historical and regional context.

Guest edited by Tony Albert , this issue documents and reflects upon works that were commissioned from 14 First Nations artists and collectives for the recent 24th Biennale of Sydney: 'Ten Thousand Suns'.

The artists commissioned by the Fondation Cartier to make new works for the biennale-and featured in this issue-are Kaylene Whiskey, who appears on the cover, Darrell Sibosado, Doreen Chapman, Cristina Flores Pescoran, Dylan Mooney, Gail Mabo, Eric-Paul Riege, Freddy Mamani, John Pule, Mangala Bai Maravi, Megan Cope, Orquideas Barrileteras, Nikau Hindin and Yangamini.
